The Golf

Wentwood Hills

Home to the Wales Open, Wentwood Hills has been described as a bit of Augusta, a bit of Florida and a lot of Wales! It's a true Championship course that combines an undulating landscape with a more traditional links feel down in the estuary. One great feature of the course is the breathtaking view from the second hole as you go down into the lower holes and this has to be one of the finest views in British golf. Par 72 - 7097 yds (white tees), 6661 yds (yellow tees) and 5697 yds (red tees).

Roman Road

Roman Road, the first of the resort's courses, opened in 1995 and soon established a reputation as one of the top courses in Britain. A championship venue for top professional and amateur events, Roman Road is nevertheless ideal for all levels of play. The course offers a variety of tees on each hole and has generous fairways and greens. Roman Road takes its name from the ancient East-West highway of Roman Britain crossing its fairways to the nearby Roman fortress town of Caerleon from London and Bath. Several Roman roads, including the main route connecting the fortress of Caerleon with the town of Caerwent, cross the land where the Roman Road is situated. Par 69 - 6495 yds (white tees), 65961 yds (yellow tees) and 5295 yds (red tees).

Coldra Woods

The executive style Coldra Woods course, which opened in 1996, is a challenging test of iron play. Created for those seeking a short but challenging round, Coldra Woods is also perfect for a 36-hole golf day or as part of a package with the Roman Road or Wentwood Hills courses. International players use Coldra Woods to hone their short game. Beginners enjoy the variety of holes it offers. The Romans again had a say in the design, with several holes passing the site of a Roman training camp. Par 59 with 13 par 3's and the remainder as par 4's.
