The Golf

Royal St Georges is regarded as one of the most difficult courses in the world. Many of the world's best golfers also hold the course as the most difficult of Open venues.

The course requires courage, confidence and solid ball striking. Severely undulating fairways make good scoring very tough indeed. Often the tee shot will come to rest on an upslope or a down slope, then one needs to hit a long iron or fairway wood into the green from an uneven lie. With many blind tee shots and wind coming at you from every direction each hole is an individual and some times punishing test of golf.

The course has been home to 13 Opens and numerous other major championships such as the PGA Championship, Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, English Amateur Championship and Brabazon Trophy.
