The Club

Akin to some religions, the links course of St. Enodoc asks some very awkward questions and demands total commitment but once you have discovered its many merits, you will be a lover of this course for life. The early holes were laid out by a number of local gentlemen in 1889 but St. Enodoc Golf Club was not formally instituted until 1891. Early records of the course indicatethat a round consisted of 27 holes but following James Braid's design work of 1907, St. Enodoc was transformed into a quality 18-hole layout. And though certain changes have been made over the years, it is a tribute to Braid's vision and skill that golfers still essentially experience the links as it was originally laid out.

Though in many ways, St. Enodoc remains somewhat of a hidden gem, it has still developed a fine reputation as one of the most natural, romantically charming links in Great Britain. Today there are two courses at St. Enodoc - the Church Course and the Holywell Course but it is the Church Course that is by far the better of the two. Having remained relatively unchanged over the years, despite being a little longer as a result of changes made to sometees, the romance that oozes from a round on the Church Course is tangible. Whether it is the little church of St. Enodoc, which you play around from the 10th to the 15th or the delightful views over the Camel Estuary to the Atlantic Ocean beyond, golf at St. Enodoc is truly a fantastic experience.
